A portrait of the composer Pierre Gaultier - first recording of his music in Accords Nouveaux

Pierre Gaultier composed for a ten-course lute and experimented (just as did his French contemporaries, e.g. Dufaut and Mézangeau) with different tunings of the instrument. Not once in his works he did use the „old tuning", the renaissance tuning.
Of all the accords nouveaux that in d-minor was the one which became accepted practice in late seventeenth century France and soon afterwards in the other European countries.
